I thought this section of the blog would be a fun little spot where I could connect with people who inspire or motivate me in some way, and share them with the world, via a few little questions. I'll also pop in their social media handles so you can check them out too! Alice is my first guest to the '5 minutes with..' section!
I stumbled across the lovely Alice’s insta account a few years ago and a little insta friendship formed. I followed her journey pre kiddies, to later welcoming her beautiful son Cruz into the world. She got engaged and married not long after I had been engaged and married myself, what a buzz of newlywed bliss! I announced my pregnancy in November last year, and then the next month I was pleasantly surprised to see Alice announced that her and her hubby were expanding their little family again. Coincidentally we also both come from backgrounds in the medical world, except Alice would be able to have two way conversations with her patients! ;) I’ve always felt like I’ve been able to relate to this lovely soul and after chatting to her over the years I’ve found she really is such a down to earth girl just as her social media accounts portray. We chatted pregnancy and babies over insta while our bubbas were growing in our bellies, and Alice and her hubby David welcomed beautiful little Winter Rose into the world exactly one month to the day after we welcomed our precious little Aria. Alice shares her life as a mama of two gorgeous babes, a doggy and as a wife. She loves living a healthy life, inspiring others with her recipe creations that turn everyday meals or naughty treats into delicious healthy versions, that taste even better than the originals! I love the way Alice is such a great role model for her two little kiddies, teaching them how to be happy and healthy, encouraging self love, honesty and appreciation, while inspiring others simply by living her best active life. Come peek into Alice’s little world and hear what she had to say when we asked her a couple of fun questions to get to know her better.
WELCOME Alice!
Let’s start with a little bit of self loving..
Q. If you had to ‘sell’ yourself to the world, sharing your most amazing qualities or skills, tell us your top 5.
Haha I had to think about this. Well I am all about promoting self love so hey let’s practice what I preach.
1. I trust myself, I am willing to take risks but if I fail I know I will just grow and learn from the experience. 2. I love to see things as a possibility or opportunity rather than a negative experience or failure. 3. I am a pretty bad ass mumma haha. There are hard days but I love it. 4. I’m great at connecting with people. I love to meet knew people and create new friendships. 5. I am a bit of a neat freak. Love things clean and tidy. (Not sure if that’s a skill or OCD haha).
Q. Now, tell us three things not many people would know about you.
I am the eldest of eight children. I have suffered from anxiety in my early twenties. I am a huge believer in the alternative health system even though I’m a nurse in the hospital.
Q. What gives you those warm and fuzzy feelings inside? You know.. those feelings you get when you see a cute little puppy, a squishy newborn bubba or maybe even a tub full of peanut butter ;)
My babies honestly. They melt my heart every single day. I do love birth stories too and I love peanut butter by the spoonful.
Q. What are a few really important values that you want to instil into Cruz and Winter Rose as they grow older?
To believe in themselves and know that their parents will always value them. To promote self love and worth. I want them to feel good in the body they have been given. To know there will be hard days and challenges in life but it’s the growth you will gain from the experience.
Q. Tell us what you love most about being a mama?
The snuggles. Seriously love them. My heart explodes. I also love learning from my children. They teach me to slow down and to really appreciate the little things. I love the care free attitude a child has (well most of the time haha).
Q. What does a usual day for you look like?
It can be different from one day to the next but... I start my day breastfeeding Winter Rose. Then I fix Cruzie up some breakfast. I then sip my lemon and apple cider and we all head out the door for a walk at 6:15 with our doggie Evie. Usually the gym or a play date next because we love to get out the house. Cruzie and Winnie sleep after lunch and I get to work. I eat lunch alone, clean the house and do some washing. Then I work on Alice In Healthyland til they wake. I photograph, I write blogs, I create recipes or reply to all the wonderful messages I receive. Then we play outside in the afternoon. Then the usual dinner, bath, put the babes to sleep. Lots of breastfeeding in the day too haha. David and I finish the day reading, no phones allowed.
Q. Favourite foods/meals, both cheeky and healthy?
Favourite dinner is healthy spaghetti bolagnese. I pack it with so many veggies and eat it with zucchini noodles. I do love the chocolate from Wray organic too. It’s dangerously delicious 😋.
Q. What do you do to make yourself smile?
Be present with my family, walk in the fresh air and sunshine.
Q. Favourite positive inspirational quote or affirmation?
"Be you beautiful". It’s short and simple but I love it.
Q. You have a blog don’t you – Tell us a little bit about what it’s about.
Yes I love my little blog I run. It’s a place for me to put my pen to paper (well hands to keyboard) and just be me. I keep it as organic as possible. I love to write product reviews, share recipes, write about mumlife, real talk, share beautiful women and let them share their stories. To be honest I wish I had more time for this but with mumlife balance, Instagram and life in general I only get so much time a week to spend on it.
Thanks for stopping by and spending a few moments with us Alice. We look forward to watching more of your adventures with your beautiful little family xx
